St. Michael's Cathedral

ST. MICHAEL'S CATHEDRAL    .    Sitka, Alaska . 5" x 6.2" x 7" tall

Sitka is old.  The history of the U.S. is but a heartbeat in the history of Sitka.  For 63 years Sitka was Russia's highly profitable major Pacific port.  In 1867 the Russian Empire ceded the Alaska territory to the U.S.  St. Michael's Cathedral captures this Russian background.  Some years ago, it was totally destroyed by fire and the current building is a replica.
